Several reviews from Argentine and international media such as <em>Clar\u00edn, Olyrix<\/em> or <em>De Para\u00edso para Usted<\/em> highlight his detailed knowledge of the scores, technique, musicality, attention to detail and ability to accompany the soloists and get the best out of this prestigious ensemble. In the second of the three movements (Allegro scherzando), Filjak&#8217;s scherzo was masterful, with a depth and sound balance between orchestra and soloist as had not been heard at Teatro Col\u00f3n for a while.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For the second part of the concert, Manuel Hern\u00e1ndez Silva chose Dvor\u00e1k&#8217;s Symphony No. 8 in G major, a piece within the usual repertoire of the Philharmonic, that has performed it on countless occasions. However, few performances have achieved the level of perfection and luminosity as last night&#8217;s under Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva, which excelled for its outstanding interpretative quality and pure sound.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When there is rehearsal, discipline and effort, the Philharmonic shows its quality, sounding like a European orchestra. Manuel Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva was an additional ingredient, contributing with his personality and talent to bring brightness and luminosity on a night worthy of the Col\u00f3n. An authentic revelation on the stage of our biggest coliseum.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7675\" style=\"width: 670px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7675\" class=\"wp-image-7675 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/acmconcerts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/manuel_hernandez_silva_fiilarmonica_buenos_aires.jpg\" alt=\"Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva en el Col\u00f3n\" width=\"660\" height=\"408\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-7675\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9 Prensa Teatro Colon \/ Arnaldo Colombaroli<\/p><\/div>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Berlioz Summer Nights at Teatro Col\u00f3n&#8217;s (French) Winter Garden<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>S\u00e9bastien Vacelet for <\/strong><strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/olyrix.com\/articles\/production\/3259\/orquesta-filarmonica-buenos-aires-teatro-colon-argentine-article-critique-chronique-compte-rendu-4-juillet-2019-ravel-berlioz-les-nuit-dete-schumann-sinfonia-symphonie-hernandez-silva-erraught\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">OLYRIX<\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The five pieces in <em>Ma M\u00e8re l&#8217;Oye<\/em> offer in their symphonic version a delicate, smooth and quilted panorama of this French garden, which promised to be rich in colors and nuances, and that the Buenos Aires orchestra managed to transmit under the beats of the sometimes magic baton of Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva, who was very inspired and precise in his direction. The management of volumes and <em>tempi<\/em> is particularly careful (III, <em>Laideronnette<\/em>), with Manuel Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva remaining very attentive to the execution of his gestural, flexible and precise indications. The fade-in of the harp, the triangle and then the violins in <em>Les Entretiens de la Belle et de la B\u00eate<\/em> (IV) is a good example of coordination to create this impression of wonder that is the aesthetic link of <em>Ma M\u00e8re l&#8217;Oye<\/em> and finds in <em>Le Jardin f\u00e9\u00e9rique<\/em> (V) an enchanting conclusion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Au Cimeti\u00e8re<\/em> (V) gives us the opportunity to see text and melody intermingling in a piece that evokes a song &#8220;on the wings of music&#8221;, while the iridescent nuances of the orchestra, under the instructions on its conductor, manage effects that echo\u00a0 those of the verses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The second part of the concert opens to this French garden a new horizon from across the Rhine: the performance of Schumann&#8217;s Symphony No. 2 further reinforces the already existing impression. The Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra follows Manuel Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva&#8217;s requests exactly, earning them all a big applause.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Conducted by Venezuelan Manuel Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva, the orchestra excelled itself with works by Ravel, Schumann and Berlioz.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Federico Monjeau for <\/strong><strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarin.com\/espectaculos\/musica\/filarmonica-programa-aura_0__eo2IUkYX.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CLAR\u00cdN<\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conductor was also a success. Venezuelan Manuel Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva replaced French Lionel Bringuier, absent for health reasons. Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva was born in Caracas, graduated in Vienna and is currently principal conductor of the Malaga and Navarra orchestras. In Ravel&#8217;s suite and Berlioz&#8217;s songs he managed the orchestra to sound expressive and detailed even in the most surprising pianissimos. The ravelian goldsmithing counted in addition on impeccable soloist interventions, especially Pablo Sarav\u00ed in the brief but significant violin solo at the end of the fourth movement, <em>Les entretiens de la Belle et de la B\u00eate.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And another success was the soloist Berlioz songs, the Irish mezzosoprano Tara Erraught, of beautiful timbre, fair intonation and an expresiveness at the same time nuanced and reserved. Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva maintained a seamless balance between orchestra and soloist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If conductor Hern\u00e1ndez-Silva had been extremely reserved in the first two pieces of the program, in Schumann he reached peaks of great emotional intensity, without neglecting the continuity of form and details at the same time.
