Georg Mark, conductor<\/span><\/h2>\n

Salzburg native Georg Mark studied conducting and violin at the Vienna Conservatory; he also pursued studies in musicology, philosophy and psychology at the University of Vienna.<\/span><\/p>\n

He has worked with orchestras in Japan, South Korea, Venezuela, Russia, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Norway, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland and Lithuanian include ensembles such as the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Nippon Yomiuri Orchestra, the Nagano Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Toulouse, the Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Oslo Radio Orchestra, the Slovak Philharmonic, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the State Orchestra of Rheinland-Pfalz, the Rheinland-Pfalz State Philharmonic Orchestra, the Graz Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra.<\/span><\/p>\n

From 1991 to 2006, Georg Mark was also the first guest conductor of the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow. Soloists such as Julian Rachlin, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Angelika Kirchschlager, Nikolaj Znajder, Natalia Gutman, Till Fellner, Boris Berezovsky, Franco Gulli and Nikolai Lugansky have all performed under Georg Mark\u2019s direction.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside Russian music\u2014where the emphasis is on Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich\u2014works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Bruckner, Mahler and Berg are central to his repertoire. This affinity for music composed in Vienna also explains Georg Mark\u2019s particular interest in the compositions of Johann Strauss.<\/span><\/p>\n

A special concern of Georg Mark, who also pursues teaching activities as leader of the conducting class at Konservatorium Wien University, is the combination of new developments in modern performance practice with the Viennese tradition.<\/span><\/p>\n
